Today’s review will be on the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick. I have to admit, I’m normally the first person to be sucked into buying new drugstore products, especially anything lip related but for some reason this product never appealed to me… After passing it for months I thought I might as well give it a chance and see how it fared…
On the Maybelline website they are described as follows:
“Subtle doesn’t cut it. Drench your lips in Vivid Matte. Our sensuous, creamy formula glides on smoothly for a velvety matte finish. With full colour coverage, the result is a rich, intense lip look in a range of colours from Nude Flush to Electric Pink”
I decided to pick up the most nude shade of the collection (Nude Thrill 05) as I swatched some of the darker colours on the back of my hand and they seemed a bit more patchy. Nude Thrill is a warm toned peachy nude with brown tones. This is the neutral shade that is geared towards those with warm undertones.
An advantage of this product is the range of colours…perfect for both summer and fall. They will be perfect for a day-to-day look with their neutrals but also have expanded to the slightly more ‘out there’ colours like Vivid Violet & Possessed Plum. I am especially in love with Possessed Plum…BEAUTIFUL.
The packaging is simple and sleek, allowing you to perfectly see the shade inside. The applicator is a simple doe foot and nothing overly special but does the job.

The formula of these is not like a normal ‘liquid lipstick’ but more of cream formula that doesn’t fully dry down. It reminds me of the NYX matte lip cream formula, which I LOVE, but unfortunately is not long lasting. As it doesn’t fully dry down it means it will only last around 2-3 hours and could possibly slide around the face.

If you aren’t a fan of the normal liquid lipsticks this could be an option for you, it wont dry out your lips and can easily be reapplied! But it does have a slight silicon smell and taste which can be slightly off-putting. It also takes a couple of layers to get full opaque coverage.
…because of this I would have to recommend the NYX matte lip cream over these if you can get your hands on them!
