Glossier Brand Review – Worth The Hype?

Minimalist make-up is making a comeback, with brands like Glossier and Milk moving towards simple, enhancing, everyday make-up. Sometimes less can be more!

Glossier is an advocate for great skincare, and how it make make your skin glow. Glossier’s make-up range advertises that all you need is your finger tips and the natural products across your clean, beautiful face.

The package from Glossier is beautiful. It really feels like you are getting something special. Glossier really has minimalist perfected! An added bonus is it comes with free mini stickers to customise your products which is cute! As for the beautiful white box that Phase 2 came in, I’ll definitely be keeping that!

Phase 2:

Phase 2 consists of 3 make-up products: Generation G lipstick, Stretch concealer, and Boy Brow. With these three steps, your under eyes should be concealed, lips should have a beautiful tint, and your brows should be full! But how did they perform…

Generation G (in Like)

Hmm. First impressions… the packaging? Compared to the rest of Glossier’s make up products, this seems like a small plastic tube which was a bit disappointing. The tube seems small for the price.

Glossier describes it as “a new kind of lip colour that gives the look and finish of a stain, but that glides on and wears like a tinted balm.”  The shade I chose, “Like” is meant to be a “your lips but better” shade. Well that I would agree with, it really doesn’t have much pigment at all, and I actually found it slightly drying!

I was a bit underwhelmed by this if I’m honest. I will use it again, but only for days where I’m running around the house or heading to the gym. So maybe it is perfect for a no make-up look…

Boy Brow (in Black)

This is a small, but a very powerful little product. Boy Brow is probably Glossier’s most famous product, and I was not left disappointed. The small wand makes it great for precision and it is really pigmented! This is my new favourite go-to eyebrow product (I could even see myself restocking this when it’s done!)

Stretch Concealer (in Light)

The potted Glossier Stretch Concealer is described as “elastic micro waxes that move with your face instead of caking on top of it, and nourishing oils that give a dewy, glowing finish.” Emm…

This is really light coverage which seems to work for my super dry under eyes, so for that I’m really impressed. However, it creases, and creases, and creases again, so matter how many times I blend it out. If you’re will to put up with that then this might be perfect for you. It is so sheer so it does look quite beautiful on the skin.

Haloscope (in Moonstone)

I have only tried this with bare skin or with a skin tint… I would never risk undoing all my hard work when wearing foundation by dragging it across my face, so beware!

But this highlight is beautiful, it gives you a really nature ‘glow from within’ look, rather than the glittery powder highlight that are all the range at the moment. I think this is a really good alternative if you want a different kind of dewy glow.

It’s also quick and easy to use, one quick swipe across the high points on your face, and it can be easily blended out with your fingers.

Cloud Paint (in Puff & Dusk)

The Cloud Paint by Glossier is sheer and light for a healthy glow on the cheeks. You can easily blend it out…a little goes a long way, believe me! I sometimes use these on my eyelids to tie my whole look together. Can’t really fault these at all! They layer well on top of powders so that’s an extra bonus!

Here in a quick look I came up with using only Glossier products (and Liz Earle Skin Tint on the face). As you can see, it is a really really light coverage no make-up look but I do love it! If you are a full coverage girl and looking to cover some problem areas, this is not for you unfortunately. Everything has very sheer coverage, but can work nicely if it’s up your street!

  1. I have yet to jump on the Glossier bandwagon as yet, although I am so curious! I really like the sound of the cloud paints and the stretch concealer. The highlighter also appeals to me as Im not a fan of glittery, over the top highlights. Thanks for sharing x
